*3 wineries in Crmnica region with traditional snack

*Guided tour with transport

Montenegro has a long tradition of wine growing, even from the Ilyrian in antique times. Crmnica area around the Skadar lake National park considered to be the cradle of wine growing in Montenegro. As many other things in our small land this production was usually kept within the family. The wine was rarely for sale. The production was only for personal use or given as present. A relatively dry climate, mountainous terrain and the southern Mediterranean soil make perfect combination for the excellent wine. Montenegro has also its own Indigenous variety Vranac – an intense, deeply colored varietal win, which was taken over by other neighboring countries as well, under another name.

On this tour we visit 3 traditional wine producer located in the traditional old villages in Crmnica area. Each of them has something different to offer. Apart from wine testing we have interesting sightseeing of this area.

We start from Budva along the coast passing the famous St Stefan island and Petrovac to Brčeli village.

The first winery on our way is Kopitovic Winery. The winery is placed in an old stone house of typical construction for this area, low ceiling with archivolts. You will be explained about the tradition of wine growing, variety of wine sorts and other characteristic of the local wines.

Close to the house there are two monasteries of St Nicola and female monastery dedicated to the Shroud of the Virgin Mary with its own story and origin, built in 15th and 18th c. by members of Balsic and Petrovic family, connecting the ruling families of both Montenegrin states: Zeta and Montenegro.

Our next winery is Buk Winery with vineyards placed in the range from 270m to 700m above the sea level. This winery has a specific wine selection. Apart of indigenous variety of Vranac there is also French sort of Marcelan and Chardonnay. His wines are highly praised on different wine fairs. The large terrace with fabulous view to the Skadar lake will make the wine testing more complete.

We drive further to Virpazar, former trade center of the lake and start point of all the tours, boat rides and visits. It is well visited in the summer months, but also in the winter due to many festivals organized there, such as “Wine and Bleak festival”. There is offered wine, grilled fish and music.

Close to Virpazar is our next Djurišić Winery. Fantastic atmosphere in rustically stylized wine cellar, where every detail speaks of the wine and tradition. The winery produces 3 wine types, 2 red wines of the ingenious sort Vranac: Classic and baroque, and one white wine of the grape sort Krstač, as well as an array of fruit and herbal brandies: grape, quince, etc. You have the possibility to taste all the wines and brandies, with traditional snack of smoked ham, local cheese and olives.

After all these nice flavors, scents and impressions we take a ride to the coast in the afternoon.

In price included:

Drive, English speaking guide, wine testing with snack at 3 wineries.
