HIKING TRAIL - VRMAC FORTRESS – LOWER STOLIV
HIKING TRAIL VRMAC FORTRESS – DONJI STOLIV IN THE BAY OF KOTOR
Another beautiful hiking tour with fabulous views on the Bay of Kotor. The Vrmac hill divides the Bay of Kotor and the Bay of Tivat. It is popular destination for hikers, biker and for orienteering.
The tour offers plenty of fantastic panoramic views and opportunity for taking unforgettable photos.
We have organized transport from Budva, following the old road to Kotor to the Austro-Hungarian military fortress on Vrmac hill. In the hundred year rule of Austrian-Hungary they built numerous fortresses on the most beautiful peaks with wide view range.
From the Vrmac fortress we walk along the top of the Vrmac hill leading through pine wood and providing fantastic views both on Tivat and Kotor Bay. After hour and a half of walk we start descending to Gornji Stoliv village.
From the highest peak, St John (Sv. Ilija) on the altitude of 785m we descend to the coastal village Donji Stoliv. The hiking trail leads in some parts through the chestnut woods. It is a picturesque village at the coast from 15th century, remained preserved through the centuries.
The village is famous nowadays for festivals of Camelia flowers and Chestnuts.
The hiking lasts for cca 4 hours. Afterwards we have organized transfer to Budva.
Bring along: good walking shoes, hats, sun cremes and water
